FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF SPP2100 PRIORITY PROGRAMME

Recently, we successfully carried out our fourth General Assembly of the Priority Programme SPP2100 in the beautiful city of Dresden, Germany. The four days assembly with more than 45 researchers, including professors, postdocs, and PhD candidates from 13 institutes from all over Germany, exchanged information on their individual project results aiming to leverage soft material robotic systems.

On the first day, Prof. Annika Raatz welcomed all the researchers with remarks from the first funding period. Afterward, presentations from SPP2100 projects about their project progress, including engaging Q&A sessions, took place.

The first Keynote speaker, Dr. Johannes Mersch from Dresden University of Technology, gave a fascinating presentation about “Fiber-based Materials in Soft Actuator and Sensor Systems”. Later that day, researchers had the opportunity to visit the laboratory of that same university (TU Dresden) organized by Dr.-Ing. E.-F. Markus Henke. The day concluded with a poster session and presentation of prototypes from the SPP2100 participants. This excellent opportunity allowed attendees to network with other researchers with similar research interests, leading to potential collaborations, receiving feedback, and encouraging a more inquiry-based interaction (between researchers).

We want to thank all the participants for helping to create an environment that promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing and networking, leading to a successful and productive General Assembly.
